Esa Tilija, a Nepali-American MBA student at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, is leading a group of fellow students on an ambitious spring break expedition to Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
The 12-day trek is framed as a leadership development experience, pushing students outside their comfort zones while building team cohesion and resilience. Tilija says the trip is also about cultural connection and honoring his heritage.
The group has been training for months and has raised sponsorship from several Bay Area companies. Haas has endorsed the trip as part of its broader commitment to experiential learning.
