The Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) has launched a groundbreaking new film series exploring the intersection of psychedelic culture and cinema, featuring rare screenings, artist talks, and academic discussions.
Titled Psychedelia and Cinema, the series is curated by Kate MacKay and features films ranging from experimental avant-garde works of the 1960s to contemporary productions that engage with altered states of consciousness.
MacKay says the series aims to challenge audiences to reconsider how film can serve as a vehicle for perceptual exploration. The program has already sold out several screenings, drawing students, faculty, and Bay Area film enthusiasts.
